Does God Exist?
by Tashawaa ini came across this on a different board.
i haven't taken the time yet to read it, but its being "heralded" by a christian as a debate in which a christian minister won via logic over a minister-turned-athiest on the topic "does god exist".
i'm curious how sound the arguments are, and with some of the sharp minds around here, if an argument is faulty, i'm counting on it being discussed.. http://www.theologyonline.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?s=cbb686d85bd2e5fa727074241ddc0181&threadid=7709.

Yes Verginia there is a God. He is quite these days. he speaks in ways that he chooses to those he chooses, when he chooses. I am sure when he does speak and show himself to everyone we will all stand up and take notice.

AOL - what's your opinion?
by TresHappy ini've had aol for several years now.
i am dumping it very soon.
anyone else have aol and what is your opinion?

AOL is nothing more than a virus in your computer, if you tried to delete the program you will always find fragments of it on your hard drive. This I have found out the hard way the only way to completly remove it is to format your hard drive and reload all your programs again, then its gone.

"Landrew" vs "Borg"
by Stephanus inin classic star trek there was an episode entitled "the return of the archons" where the crew of the enterprise beamed down to a planet where the starship "archon" had last been reported, some time previously.
they found themselves in a stagnated victorian era society of people going mindlessly about their business, rattling off platitudes like "peace be with you, friend" to passers by.
the society turned out to be controlled by a supercomputer which had taken on the name (and projected image) of landrew (or landru), its creator some millennia previously.

Most witness's don't even look at the pictures in their books.
by Singing Man inlike the one of the little girl falling into a big crack in the earth, a picture of amagedon from the paradise book.
few witness's stop and ponder just how sick that really is to show kids that at a young age.
if anyone has that post it to this thread for others to see just how hurtful that could be for children of a tender age.

Thanks SanFranciscoJim for the picture, the one in the Paradise book would be good along side of this to show how they still have a sick out look on what kids should veiw about the world around them.
Its one thing to let your kids knowing see such things on the TV at a tender age, and quite a diferent matter to have them see it represented in the name of God or in the place where they go to worship God. As the Witness books do so well.

I think the point here is that the basic tide that kids learn while being raised a witness is that God is or should be a God of kindness and love, not a God of death and pain as viewed through pictures or other descriptions. Like describing blood being up to the stirrups of horses and so forth, "holding back the four winds of destruction, on and on and on...
Oh, I am not insane from what I learned from being raised a Witness but I could have had a much better outlook on God than I do now if I would have been directed to a better view of him as a child.
